The Committee on the Status of Women in Physics has established a Friends of the CSWP listserve to assist the committee in understanding and improving the status of women in physics. With this listserve, APS members may easily send suggestions to the Committee and receive news of Committee activities.

Suggestions from Friends might include issues for CSWP to address and topics and speakers for symposia at APS meetings. The Friends listserve could facilitate nominations of qualified women physicists for APS Fellowship, awards, invited talks, and leadership roles in APS. CSWP will ask Friends to suggest new approaches for the Committee and to help carry out the work of the Committee in their own scientific communities and workplaces.

Suggestions will be forwarded to the CSWP for comment and/or action. Questions may be addressed to the moderator at owner-cswpfnd@lists.apsmsgs.org

You will need an APS web username and password in order to subscribe. If you do not have a web account, click on “cancel” in the log-in box and you will be able to set one up. To subscribe, go to http://apps.aps.org/mem-cgi/cswpfnd.pl. If you are already a Friends subscriber, please go to http://lists.apsmsgs.org/cswpfnd.html and sign in.

If you do not already receive it, your name will be added to the mailing list to receive the Gazette, the newsletter of the CSWP, which is published twice a year. Back issues are available at  the Gazette webpage.

For further information on the CSWP or its programs, please contact Sue Otwell at 301-209-3231 or women@aps.org
