This image depicting the physical results of vibrations is symbolic of the 21st Century Campaign's belief that increased support of physics education will resonate through the community and produce equally visible and lasting results.

On November 3, 2006, the APS 21st Century Campaign celebrated its kickoff. APS President John Hopfield led the program, which included the announcement of a $3.5 million goal.

To date, the campaign has raised $3.3 million and is only $200,000 from its goal of $3.5 million. The campaign seeks corporate, foundation and individual gifts to reach our goal by December 31, 2008.

Finishing the Challenge

The 21st Century Campaign embodies the commitment of the American Physical Society to improve science education, attract greater numbers of women and under-represented minorities to the sciences, and develop stronger ties between industry and academia.

Through your individual support of the Campaign you can:
  • Help students develop a deeper appreciation of the world around them and acquire the skills to help them excel in the new millennium.

  • Endow teachers with new skills to help them engage and educate their students, and create stronger ties between teachers and the scientifc community.

  • Ensure that women and minorities have the opportunities, encouragement, and role models they need to effectively compete in the physical sciences.

  • Provide industry with a robust, technically trained workforce that will contribute to the United States’ ongoing technological progress.

  • Communicate to the public that physics is a vital and dynamic feld that touches nearly every aspect of our lives.
Many of your APS colleagues have already pledged their support to the 21st Century Campaign.  APS is pleased to offer recognition to the Campaign’s supporters.
